Galaxy S26 Ultra may bring disappointing news for selfie fans

Galaxy S26 Ultra may bring disappointing news for selfie fans

Samsung’s next non-foldable flagship smartphone is expected to be the Galaxy S26 Ultra. So far, there have been plenty of leaks about it, revealing its key specifications. However, it doesn’t mean we know everything about the phone. There are still many things about the device that we don’t know. One of them was a detailed specifications sheet for the front camera. Well, not anymore.

On X, Ice Universe has shared detailed specifications of the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s front camera. According to the tipster, it uses a Sony sensor that features a 1/3.2-inch sensor size, 1.12um pixel size, and a 12MP resolution. They claim that the camera has an 85-degree field of view. These specifications seem to be similar to those of the Galaxy S25 Ultra's front camera, except for the field of view.

While there’s no official information on the field of view of the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s front camera, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature a front camera with a wider field of view. The leak doesn’t mention the dual-pixel phase detection autofocus feature, which is something that the current model has. However, it doesn’t mean the upcoming phone won’t have it.

With all of that said, it is disappointing to see that Samsung is using the same selfie camera for the Galaxy S26 Ultra as it has used for the three previous phones in the lineup. It looks especially bad when you consider that Apple has upped its game significantly. Not many major upgrades coupled with a price increase is a recipe for customer disappointment as well as low sales.
